such a learning experience with finding my purpose, etc. But I will say out of all the chapters 20s, 29 has been my favorite ❤️
Over a year ago, I created a bucket list of things I’d like to accomplish. By my surprise, a majority of them got checked off my list this year alone. Yall, I went to my first Beyoncé concert (No, I did not pass out by her presence but it was because my strawberry margarita was STRONGGG lol). I made an acting debut in my first stage play, I went to the Georgia aquarium(a travel goal), started a new position at my job, moved to a new city, into a new apartment, and I travel so much now! Breaking out in this blogger world, I have so many exciting collabs and things in the works! God is so good yall!!
If there’s anything I could tell my 20-year-old self it would be....
On Self:
1. OWN who you are.
Don't apologize for who you are. You have a unique gift. Use it.
2. Keep a journal.
Write down your goals, thoughts, doodles, to - do list and check them off. Write down anything to reduce clutter and help you stay on track with a sound mind.
3. Experiences > Material
If you're going to spend a significant amount of money, spend it on experiences. You can never get back those moments. Material things lose value over time but experiences can last a lifetime. Take that trip. Go to that concert. Take that cruise. Visit that island. Make memories.
4. Meditate
Take some time to reflect. Journal. Dim the lights. Shut out the noise. Turn on your air diffuser with essential oils. Practice mindful meditation. Download meditation apps on your phone.
5. Start Fresh
It's okay that you've made mistakes. It's okay that you don't know what you're doing or what your purpose is. Pray and ask for clarity. Take this time to focus on what you want in this moment and steps to prepare for it.
On Life:
6. Embrace Failure
It's okay that your plans didn't go as planned. Learn from it, how to be better, do better, and not repeat past mistakes and take that bull by its horns.
7. Take advantage of your youth.
Try many new things. See what works and what doesn't works. Go out for that tournament, job, overseas mission. Take advantage of it NOW.
8. Guard your heart at all costs.
Don't allow anyone to sow negative seeds into your heart and dreams. Don't let someone get you to question your destiny. Nor allow their not so great experiences stop you from going after your dreams. Everyone's experience is different.
9. Stop comparing
You're not behind in life. You're simply running your own race. Guard your heart from comparison and competition - Heather Lindsey
On Relationships:
10. Love with all your heart
Everyone has been hurt at some point. But keep loving anyway and with all your heart.
11. Walk away from what doesn't serve you
You know when you're appreciated, loved, and cherished. Walk away from anything that isn't sure of you.
12. Single and not married
Buy yourself a pretty ring! Keep dating! You're not defined by your relationship status.
13. Sex
Make your own rules about sex. Sex or abstinence. Move at your own pace. Just make sure it's authentic and special.
